Prepare. Equip. Multiply.

Let’s Go is a Spirit-led initiative to create needed space over the next two years at GBC to reach and disciple multiple generations of Christians in Pottsboro, the surrounding Texoma area, and the rest of the world.

the URGENCY

In Grayson County, there are more people moving to the area than there are churches ready to receive them. Thousands of people need a church home, and this number keeps growing. GBC is reaching capacity, and steps must be taken to accommodate this rapid growth and avoid turning people away.

the VISION

To provide space for the Pottsboro community to be spiritually revived, become disciples, and be empowered to minister locally and globally.

  • Provide a space that holds 700 people at a time for worship services that will edify multiple generations for years to come.
  • Create a secure and inviting children’s area for young families from every background to experience the love of Jesus and grow deeper in discipleship.
  • Build more classrooms for adults in Bible Study, small groups, and various ministries.

the OPPORTUNITY

Building a larger church space will allow even more opportunities to reach the surrounding area and impact the world for Jesus Christ.

  • Excitement in the church is continuing to multiply as more men, women, and families come forward to grow in discipleship and serve the church.
  • Our pastors, ministers, and leaders are unified in the church’s mission.

Throughout the 2-Year Let’s Go Initiative, Georgetown Baptist Will:

PREPARE

  • Build a new church building to accommodate growth including
a worship space, children’s area, and classrooms.
  • Serve as a lighthouse for the gospel of Jesus Christ to the greater Texoma area.
  • Fulfill the continued vision of God’s plan and purpose for GBC.

EQUIP

  • Employ a full-scale discipleship model to train Christians to experience a whole relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Raise children and students to carry the torch of Christianity to future generations.

  • Welcome people as they are to connect with a loving church family.

MULTIPLY

  • Expand our impact locally and globally through new ministry opportunities and missional efforts.

  • Multiply the number of men and women we can disciple.

  • Create space for a lost and dying world to experience the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

Jesus told his followers to “Go” and make disciples. Now is the time for GBC to “Go” and fulfill God’s plans for this loving body of believers.

We are asking everyone at Georgetown Baptist Church to be  part of the mission God has given.

Frequently Asked Questions:

We would remain creative to facilitate the growth of our church, but we would be unable to assimilate together in a way that wouldn’t eventually turn people away from our church. God can do anything, but we feel a calling from the Lord to move forward in this project. The money our members have sacrificed would not be stewarded toward the project.

Ample worship space (we reach 80% capacity every Sunday currently), more Sunday School/Small group areas (we only have one small room available that’s not being used right now), better utilization of our Family Life Center, a more safe and secure children’s space, and an overall better experience for church members.

Let’s start with the objection of cost for what might be perceived as too much. Some are concerned about going into debt. Several years ago, this project would have cost $4,000,000. The church waited in hopes of raising more funds. The project is almost double the initial cost for the duplicate square footage. Our leadership believes that the time is now to embark upon this project and trust the Lord to guide our steps.
